Monday, April 13th, 2009: There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Duke Snider, the Carolina center fielder, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the No Frills League Player of the Week honors.
Snider piled up 15 hits in 27 at-bats, 1 home run and 10 RBIs while hitting .556. |

Thursday, April 9th, 2009: Today at Horsemen Park Arky Vaughan put on an impressive display of hitting -- the Carolina shortstop tagged Atlanta pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on his batting spree and lost the game to the Horsemen by the score of 9-4.
"Hey, the loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it. 5-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, Vaughan remained somewhat somber. "Sure, I'm happy with my performance today," he was quoted as saying in the locker room, "But all that really matters in this game is that number in the win column. We just didn't get it done today."
A. Vaughan singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off D. Dean in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off D. Dean in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
In 9 games this season Vaughan has batted at a .488 pace with 20 hits and 3 home runs. |

Mel Ott, the Detroit Storm 20-year-old right fielder, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for No Frills League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 8 hits in 16 at-bats, compiling a .500 average with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs. |
